Vallarta offers an abundance of free concerts, plays, movies, dance performances and much more all around the bay. But when it comes to consistently conveying Vallarta’s vibrant cultural manifestations, nothing beats our Main Plaza beside City Hall and the oceanfront Malecon right across from it at the Los Arcos outdoor amphitheater. Visitors can choose from an abundance of activities, from excursions to quiet secluded beaches, floating parties, scuba diving expeditions and romantic dinner cruises to hiking, biking, eco-tours, swimming with dolphins, whale watching, archaeological digs and 4-wheeling.

How about parachute rides over the protected waters of Banderas Bay or a short plane ride to a mountain village for lunch? There are also several getaway locations close enough for an overnight stay – some dedicated to relaxation with spas and other health-oriented amenities.

In Puerto Vallarta there is something for everyone under the sun; funky trinkets, T-shirts of every description, Mexican "sombreros", tequila, woven blankets... the list goes on and on.

However, there is also world-class art, hand-crafted furniture, stunning silver items of every description, exquisite stained and etched glass pieces, romantic designer dresses and fine jewelry as well as leather goods, cigars, and a host of other things "you just gotta have."

Nightlife in Puerto Vallarta

An evening on the town in Puerto Vallarta begins with a great meal in one of the city's many fine restaurants. Musicians serenade you as you sample the cuisine of world-class chefs or enjoy Mexican "home cooking."

After your meal, relax with a drink on a romantic terrace by the sea or in the hills with a breathtaking view of city lights, boats on the bay and fireworks. Then it's time to move on to the real action of the evening.

Music, dancing and live entertainment really get going after 11 pm. No need to dress up, just go as you are (but not in beachwear) to a restaurant-bar with your favorite kind of atmosphere. You will find sports bars, rowdy bars, refined and relaxed piano bars and everything in between. Several bars, discos and live music clubs offer rock 'n roll, Latin music, blues and jazz. At some of them, diehard dancers and late-starters are still kicking up their heels on the dance floor until five in the morning. Maybe you will be among them!

For the more sedate traveler and those still weary from the night before, just strolling along the lively Malecon is a lovely way to enjoy a balmy evening. Everyone can go "cruising" on foot and do some serious people-watching while savoring the tastes of regional snacks sold at stands along the way.
